The range basically consists of series 40, 50 and 60 engines
and we provide below a brief resume, highlighting specifications
available for each series, each of the engines are designed,
engineered and manufactured using the most advanced technology
available today.
Series 40
The lightweight 4 cycle in-line six cylinder heavy-duty
diesel engine with a standard horse power range of 160 to
350hp, comprising of 7.6 and 8.7 liter displacements. The
series 40 family provides the engine with versatility in
the automotive, construction, industrial, transit bus and
generator set markets. The latest technology enables this
series to continue To meet increasing on and off highway
emission standards.
Series 50
This series of engine is a 4 cycle in-line four cylinder
type and is electronically controlled for on-highway truck
application with ratings ranging from 250 to 320 bhp gross
power and displacement of 8.5 liters. The electronic control
module (ecm) which is the basis of the ddec system comprises
sensors to provide information regarding the various engine
performance characteristics. The information sent to the
ecm is instantaneously used to regulate engine and vehicle
performance. It carries a two year, unlimited mileage warranty.
Series 60
This series of engine was the first fully integrated heavy
duty diesel engine with electronic controls in the entire
world and is the most popular in the class 8 truck market.
It offers a wide range of horse power and torque options.
The series 60 engine features integral electronic controls
called detroit diesel electronic controls (ddec iii). Like
the series 50 this system receives electronic inputs from
the driver as well as engine mounted sensors. The engine
projection devices, vehicle speed and cruise control can
be set to optimize specific fleet requirements. The hp of
this family of engines ranges from 300 to 500 hp, and engine
displacement 12.7 liters.
